Are We Rewiring Ourselves To Doom?
There is a great conversation going on right now about a new book from Nicholas Carr, The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains. It has spawned articles in the NYT by Carr himself (Does the internet make you dumber?) and Clay Shirky (Does the internet make you smarter?) as well as a review in theNYT and subsequent post, Hooked on gadgets and paying a mental price.
You can (and should!) also read a great blog postby Edward Boches which also lists several links for further related reading as well as hosting interesting debate around the topic. Stimulating stuff well worth investigating (unless you’re scared the act of doing so will slowly kill your brain).
